Open to all beings for peace.
Be part of Yoga Mala, a worldwide collective gathering to elevate and expand peace consciousness. The Global Yoga Mala Project unites yoga, service and collective action. The purpose of the Yoga Mala is to bring the global yoga communities together from every continent, school and approach to yoga to form a symbolic mala around the earth through collective practices based upon the sacred cycle of 108.
Joining together for 108 Surya Namaskar (sun salutations) as a moving meditation or moving prayer. Our practice will flow as a process of listening, letting go, fertilization, emergence, transformation and sustaining power! Through this ritual space we will unify our movement and heart rhythms, flowing as one.
In 2007, international yoga teacher and global activist, Shiva Rea ignited this global movement and launched the first "Global Yoga Mala for Peace Project." This powerful vision has been the seed for a worldwide experiment into the power of meditation in action. Together here in Bellingham, we will join thousands of planetary rituals that are raising peace consciousness in conjunction with the approaching United Nation’s International Peace Day (9/21).
Yoga Mala events are donation based and generate much needed funds for organizations making a positive impact in our communities across the planet. All proceeds from this event directly benefit Bellingham’s Northwest Straits Chapter Surfrider Foundation and their dedication to the protection of our waters and beaches through conservation, activism, research and education (nws.surfrider.org).
